Getting Started

What is FoxTalk?

A real-time voice conversation app where you practice speaking English with an AI tutor — not lessons, not drills, just real conversation, anytime you want.

How do I create an account?

Sign up with your phone number and a password — or tap "Login with Kakao" to skip creating one. You'll answer a couple of quick questions to finish setting up (which may include picking a tutor) — either way, you can always change your tutor anytime from Settings.

How does a session actually work?

Your tutor starts the conversation — a warm greeting and a first question — so you never have to figure out what to say first. They appear right on screen and respond in real time, like a face-to-face conversation. From there, ask anything, talk about anything — there's no script to follow.

Which tutor should I pick?

Pick the one that matches who's using it:

  • Jamie — for kids and teens: playful and fun, no lessons, just talking and playing in English.
  • Abby — for adults who want warm, everyday conversation practice at a relaxed pace.
  • Leo — for adults who want confident practice for work: interviews, meetings, presentations.
  • Sophie — for college students and twenty-somethings who want casual, current conversation with a peer.

Is FoxTalk safe for my child?

Yes. Jamie keeps every conversation age-appropriate, never asks for personal information like a last name, school, home address, or photos, and gently steers away from anything that isn't right for a kid — and if something ever seems off, she encourages your child to talk to a trusted adult. You'll also get a weekly report so you can see how things are going.

Plans & Pricing

What are the different plans?

PlanPriceMinutes included
Talk₩19,900/month100
Talk+₩49,900/month300
Talk Pro₩109,900/month1,000
Talk Max₩299,000/month3,000

How does this compare to a tutor or hagwon?

Priced per minute of actual speaking time, not the sticker price, FoxTalk comes out far cheaper than either:

  • Private tutor (₩50,000–80,000/hour) — about ₩1,000 per minute
  • Adult conversation hagwon, group of 9 (₩140,000–210,000/month) — about ₩2,000 per minute of real speaking time, since one teacher is split 9 ways
  • FoxTalk Talk+ (₩49,900/month, 300 minutes) — about ₩170 per minute, and it's 100% your speaking time, no scheduling required

What happens if I go over my included minutes?

You're never cut off — every plan uses the same simple overage rate, ₩100 per extra minute, added automatically to your next bill.

Can I switch plans?

Yes — go to Settings and tap "Manage billing" to switch to any plan, anytime.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, every plan includes 7 days free. Your card will be charged automatically once the trial ends unless you cancel before then.

How do I cancel?

Go to Settings and tap "Manage billing" — you can cancel there directly, no need to contact anyone.

Rewards Program

What is the Rewards Program?

FoxTalk's way of saying thanks to anyone who helps spread the word — friends, family, or social/influencer partners. Share your code, and when someone you refer becomes a subscriber, you start earning rewards automatically.

Where do I find my referral code?

In Settings, under "Refer a friend" — share it with anyone, however you like.

How do I use my rewards?

You don't have to do anything — they're applied automatically as credit toward your own bill.

What happens if my friend cancels or gets a refund?

Your rewards are automatically adjusted to reflect it.

The Guarantee

What is the guarantee?

On any plan, if you use FoxTalk consistently for a full year without reaching a real, measurable improvement in your English, we'll give you an additional year on your plan completely free.

What does "one level" actually mean?

More than a label — a real, noticeable jump in what you can actually do. A few examples of what one level looks like in practice:

  • A1 → A2: from a few basic words and phrases to simple, complete sentences about everyday things
  • A2 → B1: from simple sentences to holding a real conversation — your day, your job, your opinions
  • B1 → B2: from getting by in conversation to speaking naturally and confidently, even on harder topics
  • B2 → C1: from confident everyday conversation to fluent, precise conversation on nuanced ideas
  • C1 → C2: from advanced fluency to speaking as naturally as an educated native speaker

How is my progress measured?

By your CEFR level, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (fluent) — the scale used worldwide to track exactly this kind of progress. We take a baseline snapshot when you enroll, then track it over time from your real conversations, not a formal test.

What do I need to do to qualify?

Use FoxTalk for at least 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week, for the full year. This is the one thing that has to be true for the guarantee to apply — if you use it lightly or inconsistently, the guarantee doesn't kick in, since real progress depends on real, regular practice.

What happens if I don't reach the target?

If you met the usage requirement above and your CEFR level hasn't gone up by the end of the year, you get a free year on your current plan.

Features & How It Works

What are the different session modes?

  • Conversation — free-flowing talk about anything
  • OPIc practice — a simulated OPIc speaking test with real feedback and a practice score
  • Interpreter — real-time interpretation between two people speaking different languages
  • Vocabulary — focused practice building words around a topic you choose
  • Eyes-free — audio-only conversation for driving or commuting, no need to look at the screen

Does FoxTalk remember our previous conversations?

Yes — your tutor remembers things you've told them before (your interests, things you've talked about) so conversations build naturally over time instead of starting from zero every time.

What if I don't understand something the tutor said?

Just say so, or switch to Korean — your tutor will explain and bring the conversation back to English naturally.

What's my "English Level" and how is it calculated?

It's your CEFR level, the same internationally recognized scale used worldwide, calculated periodically from your real conversations — not a test, just an ongoing read on how you're actually doing.

Do parents get a progress report?

Yes — a weekly report in Korean, sent on whichever day(s) you choose in Settings.

Troubleshooting

The tutor doesn't seem to hear me

Try these in order — most people are fixed by the first two. If it's still not working after all of this, contact support with your browser/device and roughly when it happened.

  • Check your mic permission — look for a mic icon in your browser's address bar and make sure it says "Allowed," not "Blocked." If blocked, allow it, then refresh and start a new session.
  • Refresh and start a new session — sometimes that's all it takes.
  • Make sure you're not muted — a physical mute switch on a headset, or your device's system mic being muted, are easy to miss.
  • Close other apps using your microphone — video call apps (Zoom, Teams, etc.) can sometimes hold onto the mic.
  • Check your WiFi — a weak or public network (like a café's) is one of the most common causes of a tutor suddenly going quiet mid-conversation. Try a different network, or mobile data.
  • Try a different browser or device — helps narrow down whether it's specific to your setup.

The audio sounds choppy or cuts in and out

Almost always a network issue, not the app itself — try a stronger WiFi network, or move closer to your router.

The app won't load or a session won't start

Refresh the page first. If that doesn't help, close and reopen your browser (or restart the app, if you're on mobile).

I got disconnected in the middle of a conversation

Usually a momentary network drop. Just start a new session — anything you said before the disconnect is already saved to your progress.

Billing & Payments

How do I update my payment method?

Go to Settings and tap "Manage billing" — you can update your card directly there.

Why was I charged after my free trial ended?

Every plan includes a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before it ends (Settings → "Manage billing"), your card is charged automatically so your access continues without interruption.

Why is my bill different this month?

You likely used more than your plan's included minutes. Extra usage is billed at ₩100/minute, the same rate on every plan, added automatically — there's no limit and no separate approval step, so a busier month shows up as a bigger bill.

How do I get a receipt?

Stripe emails you a receipt automatically after every charge. You can also see your full invoice history anytime in Settings → "Manage billing."

Account & Privacy

How do I reset my password?

Tap "Forgot password?" on the login page and enter your phone number. If there's an email on file for that account (the "Parent's email" field in Settings), you'll get a reset link there. If you never added one, email support@livefluently.com for help instead.

How does a parent manage their child's account?

Enter your email at the parent login page to get a magic link — no password needed. That gives you access to the parent dashboard, where you can see your child's progress. Things like the weekly report schedule are adjusted from your child's own Settings page (under "Parent's email"), not the parent dashboard itself.

What conversation data does FoxTalk store, and why?

We store text transcripts of sessions (never your actual voice — that's processed in real time and not retained) along with usage data like session length. This is what lets your tutor remember previous conversations, track your progress, and generate reports — see our full Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email support@livefluently.com to request deletion — your account and all associated data will be removed.

Safety

What safeguards exist for young learners specifically?

Jamie is built specifically for kids: she keeps every topic age-appropriate, gently steers away from anything sexual, violent, or otherwise inappropriate, and never asks for personal information like a last name, school, home address, or photos. If something ever seems genuinely concerning, she's built to respond with warmth and encourage the student to talk to a parent or trusted adult.

How do I report a concerning conversation or interaction?

Email support@livefluently.com directly. Safety reports go straight to the founder, not a general support queue, and are the top priority to respond to. If you can, include your child's account name/email and roughly when the conversation happened — that's enough to look into it quickly.

Can my child share personal information with the tutor?

The tutor is built to never ask for things like a last name, school name, home address, or photos — and to gently redirect if a child brings one up unprompted, without making them feel like they did something wrong.
